Через эту созданную в 1916 г. систему федеральные резервные банки акцептуют чеки от других банков, в которых они были депонированы или оплачены, направляет эти чеки банкам, на которые они выписаны (трассатам), и кредитуют банки, приславшие чеки. В каждый рабочий день обрабатывается свыше 60 млн. чеков.
